Week 2 Props: Mayer Gets the TE1 Role, and the Whole-Slate Read

One clean role-change lean up top, then a fast pass through all 14 Sunday games for where the injuries move a prop. Direction and reasoning; confirm the posted line before you act.

Week 2 Props: Mayer Gets the TE1 Role, and the Whole-Slate Read

How to use this: ZeroChalk gives you the market and the direction, not a sportsbook's number. Confirm the posted line in your app and act only if the price is payable, because a right direction at a bad number is not an edge. Quick terms: a "receptions over" or "rushing-yards over" wins if the player clears a set total; a "lean" is a directional edge, not a lock; "TE1" is a team's top tight end. Inactives post about 90 minutes before kickoff, so lock any conditional play only once the status is official.

Top plays

  • Mayer receptions over (LV, 4:05 ET). The cleanest role change on the board: Bowers out, Mayer is the Raiders TE1.
  • McCaffrey rushing yards and receptions over (SF, 4:25 ET). Miami's pass rush is down two, so more clean snaps and check-down volume.
  • Daniels rushing yards over (WAS at DAL, 4:25 ET). A patched left tackle means more pressure, and Daniels answers pressure with his legs.
  • Watch: Quentin Johnston over (LAC). A play only if McConkey is ruled out.

The spotlight

Raiders at Chargers is the prop game because two featured pass-catchers are in doubt or gone, and one of those vacancies is the clearer of the two. Bowers' expected absence hands Mayer the TE1 role. The mechanical case: a team's tight-end targets do not vanish when the starter sits, they redistribute to the next man, and Mayer is that man. The hypothesis is that a newly promoted tight end can be underpriced early in the week, but whether there is real value depends on the posted line, so check it before you act. Lean Mayer receptions over as the primary market, receiving yards over as the secondary expression, and treat any anytime-TD ticket as a smaller secondary, not the foundation.

Same kickoff, other sideline: Ladd McConkey is trending out (rib/chest), so treat it as a game-time watch. The Chargers signed a replacement, and Quentin Johnston is the name most likely to absorb targets. The Johnston lean is conditional on McConkey being ruled out; until the inactive posts, Mayer is the firmer role-based lean because Bowers' timeline is surgical, not a game-time rib.

Full slate, by kickoff

1:00 ET

Bengals at Texans. Joe Burrow is questionable with back soreness but practiced limited and is not seen as at risk of missing, so treat him as likely to play. Nico Collins is the real mover: doubtful, a worsening hamstring, and a hamstring history. Avoid a Collins receiving over while he is a game-time decision, and do not force a named Texans replacement the facts do not point to.

Panthers at Falcons. Michael Penix Jr. is out (knee) and a backup starts, which points a tentative Falcons passing-yardage under in direction, since a backup quarterback usually means a more conservative script. Jalen Coker is probable after 8-138-2 in Week 1; his receptions and yards overs ride on that usage and his ankle status, not on Atlanta's quarterback.

Browns at Buccaneers. Dylan Sampson left the Week 1 opener in a brace and on crutches (knee). Raheim Sanders stands to gain the work, so a Sanders rushing-yards over and a modest anytime-TD look are the Browns backfield angle. Avoid a Sampson rushing over until his status updates.

Packers at Jets, and Eagles at Titans. No injury-based prop the facts support. Cooper DeJean (calf/abdomen) is an Eagles secondary watch, not an offensive lean. Pass both.

Vikings at Bears. Kyler Murray is out (concussion) and Carson Wentz starts after a relief Week 1 that finished roughly QB12 in fantasy with three touchdowns. A Wentz passing-TD over is a directional lean off that touchdown production, and only that: three relief scores say he can find the end zone, they do not establish a passing-yardage total, so leave the yards market alone. Chicago's backfield is a committee with D'Andre Swift (ankle/knee) and Kyle Monangai both questionable and both expected to play. Do not back a single Bears back as a workhorse; if you touch the backfield, you are playing a split.

Saints at Ravens. Zay Flowers is doubtful (hamstring) after 5-150-1 in a half in Week 1, and Baltimore may rest him. If Flowers sits, his targets move first to Rashod Bateman, so Bateman receptions over is the directional play, with DeAndre Hopkins the next in line. Alvin Kamara is probable back from an MCL sprain, but a committee with Kendre Miller caps his volume, so leave his overs alone unless the number is soft. Chris Olave is questionable (hamstring), which keeps the Saints receiver picture messy.

Steelers at Patriots. A.J. Brown is out with a high-ankle sprain, on IR, roughly six weeks. Demario Douglas and Romeo Doubs both step up for Drake Maye, and the facts do not support a preference between them, so if you play the vacated targets, a receptions over on either is the lean, without a tiebreaker. TreVeyon Henderson is probable with his ankle cleared and in line for more work, so Henderson rushing-yards over is the Patriots backfield angle.

4:05 ET

Raiders at Chargers: see the spotlight above. Jaguars at Broncos: RJ Harvey is questionable (hamstring) and his rushing overs need him active, with no named Denver back to pivot to if he sits. Marvin Mims Jr. is out (foot), which does not hand you a named replacement. Parker Washington is the Jacksonville receiver the depth chart points to, with Brian Thomas Jr. and Jakobi Meyers both questionable.

4:25 ET

Dolphins at 49ers. Chop Robinson (concussion) and Ronnie Harrison (hamstring) are out, so Miami's pass rush is weaker. The mechanical read: less pressure means more time and more check-downs, which lifts Christian McCaffrey's rushing and receiving volume. McCaffrey is probable and plays; lean his rushing yards and receptions over against the thinned front.

Seahawks at Cardinals. Sam Darnold is out (hip/glute) and Drew Lock starts for Seattle. Trey McBride is probable on a rest-only designation after 9-95-1 in Week 1; his receptions over rides on that usage, with receiving yards the higher-variance version. On a Lock script, avoid Seattle skill-player overs relative to a Darnold script.

Commanders at Cowboys. Jayden Daniels is active and ranks around QB5 this week. Laremy Tunsil is out indefinitely (torn triceps, surgery) with Brandon Coleman sliding to left tackle, so Washington's protection is compromised. The mechanical read: more pressure pushes a mobile quarterback out of the pocket, which lifts his scramble volume, so lean Daniels rushing yards over and his passing yards under in direction. Cowboys defensive sack props are the other way to express the same line hole.

8:20 ET (SNF)

Colts at Chiefs. Alec Pierce is questionable (ankle and wrist) and still hobbled, so avoid a Pierce receiving over if you were counting on him as a vertical outlet. No other injury in the game supports a volume-transfer play. Lightest injury window of the day.

The read

Michael Mayer receptions over is the top directional lean off his move to Raiders TE1, checked against the posted line. Johnston's over is the same-game add only if McConkey is ruled out.
