Week 2 Waiver Wire: Buy the Opening, Not the Name
The Week 2 adds that pay are the players who just inherited a role. Injury-driven routes and carries first, brand names never. PPR lean, and confirm inactives before you spend.
Week 2 Waiver Wire: Buy the Opening, Not the Name
Week 2, 2026 season. Injury news current as of Monday, Sept. 15. The roles below are opportunity reads, not settled facts. Confirm active/inactive status before your claim locks.
The Week 2 add that pays is the player who just inherited a job. A teammate's injury opens routes, carries, or red-zone looks, and that opening is the case. A name without a path is not. PPR lean, role first.
Running back
Kendre Miller (NO). New Orleans' backfield is a committee, and Miller has a real path to early-down and passing-down work if the split tips his way. Priority add where you need a back with upside, not a locked role yet.
Wide receiver
Tre Harris (LAC). Ladd McConkey is dealing with a chest injury. If McConkey misses time, Harris is the likeliest beneficiary of the vacated slot and intermediate work. That is the add: the opportunity, contingent on McConkey's status. Confirm before you spend big.
Jalen Coker (CAR). Carolina still needs a reliable second and third target. Coker has the roster spot and a route to snaps. Deeper-league add.
Devaughn Vele (NO). If the Saints' receiver room stays thin, Vele can absorb snaps in a pass-leaning offense. Deeper-league flier.
Tight end
Brenton Strange (JAX). Brian Thomas Jr. is carrying a shoulder issue. If Thomas is limited, more of the short and intermediate tree runs through the tight end, and Strange is on the field for it. Priority add at a thin position, pending Thomas's status.
Quarterback
Tyler Shough (NO). Streaming case only, and only if he is the Saints' starter this week. The entire argument is volume in a pass-leaning script. Do not stash a backup on speculation.
Defense / streamers
Stream a defense that draws an offense down a weapon. Baltimore is without Zay Flowers (hamstring) and Ja'Kobi Lane (wrist). Jacksonville is thinner if Brian Thomas Jr. is limited. The Chargers lose a layer if McConkey sits. Match the defense to one of those offenses, and weigh the pass rush and the quarterback, not just the missing receiver. Do not stream a name-brand unit into a healthy offense.
Drops
Cut Week 1 volume that came with no path forward. Drop handcuffs whose starter is healthy, and third tight ends you will never start. If the job did not open, the add is dead.
Top FAAB priorities
- Tre Harris (LAC). Injury-contingent routes with real upside if McConkey sits.
- Brenton Strange (JAX). A thin position plus a Thomas limitation is how a streaming tight end becomes a start.
- Kendre Miller (NO). A backfield role that can grow into every-week PPR value.
Confirm every injury designation before your claim runs. These are openings, and an opening only pays if the starter is actually out.
