Week 4 CFB Props: The Slot Nobody's Betting, and Two Carries Markets the Book Just Moved

Three plays, all in the 3:30 p.m. ET window or later, re-checked live at 1:30 p.m. today because two of the three lines had already moved since this morning. One pick from this morning got cut because its game already kicked off. Informational only. Not betting advice.

Week 4 CFB Props: The Slot Nobody's Betting, and Two Carries Markets the Book Just Moved

A line from this morning is not a line right now. We had four stands built by 8 a.m. Saturday. By 1:30 p.m., one of those games had already kicked off, so it's out, full stop, no matter how good the read was. Two of the three that survived had already moved at the book. We're not running this column on a snapshot from before breakfast. Every number below got a second look this afternoon, and we're telling you exactly when.

How to use this: these are informational reads on public lines, not betting advice. Confirm the number in your own book before you act, because a line that moved once today can move again before kickoff. If you bet, set a budget and stick to it. If it stops being fun, call or text 1-800-GAMBLER.

The stands

Jadan Baugh, RB, Florida vs. No. 4 Ole Miss. Over 19.5 rushing attempts.

Kickoff 3:30 p.m. ET, ABC. Bet365 has this at -115, down a full attempt from the 20.5 number posted Friday (re-checked via live search at 1:37 p.m. ET off Bet365 and Action Network's boards; both show the same 19.5). Baugh carried 26 times for 162 yards at Auburn last week, after 14 carries in each of his first two games, for 458 yards on 54 attempts through three games, about 18 a game. He's active with no injury designation. Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy is out with a shoulder, but that's the other sideline; it doesn't touch Baugh's workload. Florida is home and favored, which should keep this offense on schedule and Baugh in the game plan into the fourth quarter. The book moving the number down a full attempt makes the over easier to clear than it was 24 hours ago, not harder. Confidence: solid, game-script dependent.

Mekhi Nelson, RB, Nebraska at Michigan State. Over 33.5 rushing yards.

Kickoff 5:00 p.m. ET, Big Ten Network. FanDuel dropped this to -112 from -118 and cut the number a full yard, from 34.5 to 33.5 (re-checked 1:37 p.m. ET off Covers' live prop board). Every other book is higher: bet365 and Hard Rock at 37.5, DraftKings at 39.5, theScore Bet at 39.5. That spread is the market still not settled on Nelson's role, and FanDuel's the outlier in our favor. Nelson isn't the lead back (Jamal Rule out-carried him 15 to 9 last week and scored twice), but he's run for 64, 48, and 54 yards in his three games, a 55-a-game average against a line that's now under 34. He's cleared this number every time out. He's active, not on Nebraska's availability report. Take the short number at FanDuel specifically because the committee makes the market jumpy, not because the workload is safe long-term. Confidence: solid on the number, soft on how long the touches hold.

Zacharyus Williams, WR, USC vs. No. 20 Oregon. Over 21.5 receiving yards.

Kickoff 7:30 p.m. ET (4:30 p.m. PT), NBC, Los Angeles Coliseum. Bet365 has this at -115 as of a Covers pull this morning; the live board this afternoon still shows a book at 19.5 (-125), with 21.5 at -115 still the best number posted (checked 1:45 p.m. ET; re-confirm book-by-book before you play it, since this one hasn't been reverified store-by-store since the morning stamp). This is the replacement for a pick we had to drop (see below), and it's the obscure one: Williams has 8 catches for 143 yards across four games, 35.8 a game, with single-game lines of 31, 41, 44, and 27. Every one of those clears 21.5, and the floor is 27. USC receivers Corey Simms (knee, out) and Trent Mosley (knee, doubtful, already missed the Rutgers game) are both compromised, and Williams isn't on the injury report, which means the slot targets that would've gone to two players now have a shorter list to land on. Two of his four good games came on a single catch, so one play cashes it, but that also means the sample's thin and a Mosley return shrinks the bump. Confidence: lean, not a lock; the role opening is real, the price is thin.

On watch, not a stand yet

Garrett Oakley, TE, Kansas State at Cincinnati. Kickoff 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN2. Receiving yards, book split too wide to trust. His season average is 22.3 yards a game, and bet365 and Hard Rock have the over at 20.5, matching that almost exactly. FanDuel has it at 23.5 and DraftKings at 24.5, Fanatics and BetRivers are out at 29.5, a nine-yard spread on a non-marquee tight end. That's the books disagreeing on his role, not a mispriced number in our favor. He also has a zero-catch game already this season. If you're in, take the lowest number you can find, and treat it as a lean.

Wisconsin at Penn State, fourth-quarter under. Kickoff 5:00 p.m. ET, Peacock. Both teams have scored their least in the fourth quarter this season, and a 10-point Penn State favorite in a 44.5-total game is a plausible clock-killing spot. The safer number is under 13.5 (around -115); the shorter price on under 10.5 is too tight for a quarter-total market that swings on one score. We couldn't cleanly confirm which book carries which number on this one, so check the book yourself before using it.

Mark Fletcher Jr., RB, Miami, under 74.5 rushing yards vs. Central Michigan. Kickoff 6:30 p.m. ET, The CW. He's questionable with an upper-body injury against a team Miami is favored over by more than 40. The under depends entirely on whether he plays at all. Not a stand until his status clears closer to kickoff.

What got cut, and why

Brandon Inniss, WR, Ohio State over 26.5 receiving yards vs. Illinois was this morning's cleanest read: real usage (8 catches on 8 targets through three weeks), a soft matchup against a defense bleeding slot yards. It's out anyway. That game kicked off at noon ET, hours before this posted. A good read on a game that's already being played isn't a pick, it's a recap. We're not running a bet on a line you can no longer take.

Keelon Russell, QB, Alabama, longest rush over 14.5 yards vs. South Carolina was the fourth stand this morning, and we couldn't get it back. Neither our live search nor a second check could find that market still posted on any live board this afternoon, not on Covers, not on Action Network, not on Russell's own player page. Books are still pricing his carries and rushing yards, but that's a different market, and we're not substituting a number we didn't check for one we did. Russell himself is fine, active, and the starter. The market for this specific prop is what went dark. If your book still has it at the original number, that's on you to verify; we won't print it as confirmed when we can't confirm it.

The read

Every stand here shares the same shape: real usage or an opened role sitting against a line that hasn't caught up, with the book itself moving in our direction on two of the three since this morning. The one new addition, Williams, is thinner: real role change, small sample, short price. Play the first two with more conviction than the third.

The cut picks are the actual lesson. A prop column that never has to drop anything isn't checking its work; it's just printing the morning draft. We had four this morning. We have three now, and one of the three is a Saturday-afternoon replacement, not a leftover.
