The PPR shape

Jahmyr Gibbs is the slate's cleanest running back start. Detroit has signaled a larger role, and Isiah Pacheco is on injured reserve. Gibbs already has an elite receiving floor; added rushing and scoring work would push the ceiling higher. Amon-Ra St. Brown is a WR1, Sam LaPorta is a TE1, and Jared Goff is a QB1 in an offense with multiple ways to sustain drives. Jameson Williams is a WR2/flex when your lineup can absorb more week-to-week variance.

Alvin Kamara is questionable, but he progressed from limited work Wednesday and Thursday to a full Friday practice. If active without a restriction, he is a PPR flex whose receiving work still matters. Travis Etienne Jr. is the New Orleans back to start as an RB2. Chris Olave is a WR2 because volume can survive a difficult game environment. Juwan Johnson is a tight-end streamer, while Tyler Shough belongs only in superflex.

This is a useful PPR distinction. Etienne does not need Kamara's entire historical role to be startable. He needs the majority of available routes and touches. Kamara cannot be treated as the old automatic RB1 before New Orleans shows how much work remains after the injury.

Best start: Jahmyr Gibbs. His receiving floor and expanded role give him both safety and slate-breaking upside.

Most important sit: Tyler Shough in one-quarterback leagues. A difficult road opener is not the place to trade established quarterback production for an uncertain ceiling.

Lineup pivot: If Kamara is active with no reported limitation, he becomes a PPR flex. If he is inactive, Etienne's touch projection strengthens.

Detroit outlined its current backfield in the Lions' running back preview. New Orleans has described Travis Etienne's leading role. Kamara's practice progression and designation are on the Saints' official injury report.
